Double Berry Microgreen Smoothie

Updated: Jun 24, 2020

You've come a long way, Smoothie. Long gone are the days of ice cream and chocolate syrup as main ingredients. Today's smoothies include raw nutrients like flax seed, MCT oil, bee pollen and fresh fruit, to name a few. Why pay $10 for a smoothie when you can make yours at home? The star-ingredient in this recipe are the BRIGHTFRESH MICROGREENS.

One clamshell of our Microgreens will garner 4-6 smoothies - that's half the price of powdered greens, not to mention we come fresh with NO pesticides and 4x's the nutrition! In this challenging, viral season, why not use Microgreens everyday and get high doses of phyto-nutrients that will boost immunity and ward off illness.

In this recipe, any berries will do. Go with what's in season, and remember, fresh berries are best, but if you have to buy frozen, buy organic! Next, always have bananas on hand -- pro tip: if they get over-ripe, peel first and put in a freezer bag for your next smoothie. Frozen fruit acts as ice cubes, so if going all fresh, toss in 3-5 cubes for coolness.

Recipe:

2 bananas (fresh or frozen)

1 cup wild blueberries (fresh or frozen)

1 cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)

1 cup non-dairy milk (hemp, coconut, almond, even Ripple brand work well)

1 cup BrightFresh Cilantro Microgreens*

1 tbsp. raw honey

*Choose based on taste preference or availability. Note: Cilantro helps remove heavy metals, but our Micro Arugula, Broccoli, Chef's Blend or Rainbow Mix can be substituted. In fact, why not try all 5 for the week?

Method:

Using a regular blender (or fancy Ninja or Vitamix):

Blend all ingredients together. Add the liquid last so it doesn't settle. Blend to liking. Garnish with more fruit or microgreens!

Makes one 16 oz. serving.

ENJOY!

BE WELL. LIVE WELL. WITH BRIGHTFRESH!
